My Big Geek Adventure – The Way Forward

Hi! Long time, no see! Thanks for stopping by, it’s really nice to see you. You are looking well, did you get your hair cut?

I’m sorry, I’m rambling to cover the fact that I’ve been a rubbish blogger. As you may have read in my previous blogs (which feels like many months ago) 2017 hasn’t been the best year for me. I lost my Dad, had to move house because my building was being knocked down, I quit my job to try and figure out what the hell I wanted to do with my life and started not one but two part time jobs (in the same week) while working on my own business project. It has been a bit of a crazy year…..

But all that sadness and stress and pulling my hair out helped me to put things in perspective and reminded me, yet again, about doing something with your life that you love.

My Big Geek Adventure has always been about getting up off my butt and saying yes to things and I have loved doing it. This past year has knocked me for six and I had to spend time concentrating on getting back on my feet. I feel I’m ready to take risks again now, I want to live my life and be scared and try new things and have fun!

So, what now? Well, I wanted to tell you about not just one things but two that I’ve been working on for the past couple of months.

Firstly, I’m relaunching My Big Geek Adventure with a fresh purpose. I love doing it. I love blogging and I love writing books it. That’s not going to stop. I’ll still continue to say yes to things, go to conventions and experience cool stuff. But I needed some kind of direction to go with it. That direction came to me when one day I had fallen down a YouTube hole. I was watching travel vloggers document their adventures in far off lands and I initially had started to envy them. Then a voice inside my head reminded me that I live in one of the most beautiful and geek-creative countries in the world. Why was I moping about far off countries when I had the most amazing country on my doorstop to explore?

So I will be spending as much of the next 6-9 months as possible travelling around the 7 main cities in Scotland and finding the geekiest things I can #ScotGeek I really hope that you will join me for the blogs and I’m 100% sure Book 3 will appear from it all!

The 7 cities of Scotland; Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Perth, Stirling

Secondly, I’m hoping that in a few months time I can announce a new website idea I’ve been working on. I promise that as soon as it’s ready I’ll let you know about it. It’s an exciting challenge for me and one that I’m nervous but hopeful about.

Life is too short to NOT try things just because you are scared of failing. This is me, giving it my best shot and I would love it if you came along for the ride.
