Spreading the Geek Adventuring love on BBC iPlayer!
I have that strange feeling in my stomach. The kind you get when you are really excited but also really nervous about something.
About 6 months ago, I was invited down to Bristol to be interviewed about my love of science fiction and what it means to me by the BBC. They were creating a series of films exclusively for the BBC iPlayer and were looking for people with an interesting story to tell. My friends at Geek Syndicate (who were hosting the show and know about my Adventure) had suggested me as a possible candidate.
After chatting to the Director, I was invited down for an on-camera interview along with several other geeks. It was quite a surreal experience, being interviewed about your life and loves. The Director and production team could not have been kinder though, letting me repeat something if I stumbled over my words and generally making me feel at ease. They made the experience much less nerve wracking.
The film is now available on iPlayer and you can watch it here
Annoyingly, I wish I had paid a bit more attention to my appearance. To me, clothes are generally required because it is socially unacceptable (and a bit chilly) to walk around naked. Now that I’ve seen myself on screen I kind of wish I had put a bit more thought into it rather than pulling on my comfy old t-shirt and a hoodie!
So there we go, I got a fantastic chance to spread the Geek Adventuring message a little bit further. The message being that life is so interesting, to NOT be curious about it would be such a waste.
